They like to visit places like Cuba and return home to tell everyone what a paradise it is. The Hollywood communist types can always return to their mansions to make propaganda films against the society that made them rich after a nice visit to North Korea or Venezuela where they are paraded around for public show. I am sure that if they need medical care they can go to any hospital with enough equipment and medicines (btw, in Venezuela is a miracle get a medicine in the drugstore).

Young pregnant Venevision TV host Adriana Urquiola died three days ago because there were no medical resources at the hospital.

But, these socialist "professors" apparently love that. It's so easy for them talk about a reality that they completely ignore.

Another fact, the regime has been doing a permanent devaluation. If any of these professors join any university in Venezuela they could have a monthly income between BsF 7.000 and BsF 10.000 (that's the best Venezuelan professor salary).

If a professor holds a Master and PhD degree probably he or she can reach BsF 10.000 (Bsf in "new" official Sicad II is 51,8 per dollar, so: 10.000/51,8= 193,05).

The monthly groceries cost is 7.000 (And in permanent growth due inflation rate) so this professor has about USD 50 to pay rent, pay services and "save".

This is not a joke, below are the facts:

http://www.asovac.org/2013/02/22/el-sueldo-del-profesor-universitario-en-venezuelauna-verguenzaa/

http://www.infobae.com/2014/01/14/1537022-la-canasta-basica-venezuela-aumento-un-664-un-ano

I loved my career in Venezuela but I have to give food to my children. I left my country because I felt the crime menace and the chavistas assassins threaten my workplace with armed motorists. Is this the chavista revolution's peace?

Now, I am living a better life far from my country. Why a socialist professor in a capitalist university don't visit my country and try the real Venezuelan life for at least one year?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125355648059480100.post-51079280343257432172014-03-26T08:07:27.614-07:002014-03-26T08:07:27.614-07:00
This was a very clearly-worded argument presente...
This was a very clearly-worded argument presented in a respectful manner that not only offered a concise legal framework within which to assess the protests, but also provided factual evidence to apply to the manner in which the law should be executed.

It is a shame that an effort as noble as that of Elizabeth Otaola will fall on deaf ears. Those professors are not interested in logical and factual argumentation. They are seeking ideological reinforcement for their own views and they will treat anyone and everyone who threatens those views with contempt.

And I congratulate you on publishing this Gustavo. At the very least we have another reference point to bring to the attention of others who remain uninformed about the situation in Venezuela. Perhaps Elizabeth Otaola may have done some good after all.
Jacob Sulzbachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00797414738375951231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125355648059480100.post-64739276516906335782014-03-26T08:00:17.756-07:002014-03-26T08:00:17.756-07:00The professors who wrote that letter are just Marx...The professors who wrote that letter are just Marxists supporting other Marxists as they always do. Ideology trumps everything for these people and they don't care who dies as long as their side wins. They also refuse to face their own hypocrisy and to face the reality of the economic and social mess that the chavistas have made in Venezuela. Socialism never has worked worth a damn and never will but to them it is worth killing over. RLEEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04825555024937741161noreply@blogger.com
