The Washinton DC based organization GLOBAL FINANCIAL INTEGRITY, just conducted a poll of the main tax cheats in U.S. history and the winner was:

Leona Helmsley, a.k.a. the Queen of Mean, beat out rival tax cheats to be named Global Financial Integrity's Favorite Tax Evader. The poll, which pitted tax evaders ranging from the infamous mobster Al Capone to reality tv celebrity Richard Hatch, was a close match with Ms. Helmsley narrowly beating out president Clinton-pardoned tax dodger Marc Rich. Tax evasion is estimated to cost the United States $100 million in uncollected tax revenue every year. GFI applauds the recent passage of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, which is estimated to raise $8.7 billion as a result of increased reporting and withholding by offshore financial centers.
