The latest poll conducted by reputed company Hinterlaces, December 2009, shows some dramatic numbers that explain some of the Chavez’s attitudes and the increase in the repressive nature of his regime.
61 percent of Venezuelans think Venezuela is on the wrong track, 35 percent approve, 4 percent do not answer.
12 percent feel the country is doing well, 25 percent feel is doing fair and 61 percent feel is doing badly.
65 percent would like to see Chavez out by 2012.
75 percent reject the closure of Radio Caracas TV.
61 percent support the student movement against Chavez.
60 percent are opposed to Chavez, 40 percent are in favor but only 23 percent are hard-core supporters of the regime.
EXPLANATORY NOTE: in graph above (right) about the voting for the national Assembly I have lumped together those voting for the "opposition" and for "independent" candidates as voting against Chavez. This is not exactly how Hinterlaces presented this graph, since they separate Opposition (26 percent) from Independents (34 percent).
