Universidad de Tulsa: mi alma mater estrena un nuevo presidente

Dear TU Alumni and Friends, This is Day One of an exciting new chapter, as I begin the privileged work of serving as president of The University of Tulsa. I'm honored by the confidence the Board of Trustees has placed in me, and I look forward to working with each of you as TU makes its next big push into greatness. On this first day, I wanted to be sure to reach out to you – the alumni and friends who have been propelling TU's excellence in academics, research, service, athletics, and many other areas. Moving a university forward is hard work, but the TU family has shown what becomes possible when people commit themselves to success. That powerful unity is a rare thing, and it was a big part of what drew me to this job. Let's keep going in that same spirit – and with continued dramatic results. As we've relocated our lives from Dallas to Tulsa, Cate, Mary Elizabeth, Peter and I have been amazed by the warm reception we've received from people all over campus and throughout the community. Thank you to everyone who has helped us feel right at home. And if we haven't met you yet, please stand by. We're going to be making the rounds both here in Tulsa and in our Alumni Association chapter cities. Thank you for standing with TU – yesterday, today, and for a long time to come. With thanks, Geoffrey Orsak President       President NOTA Gustavo: Tendré que hacer un viaje para conocerlo. He conocido a todos los presidentes de mi alma mater de los últimos 60 años. El primero, cuando estudié allá, Clarence Pontius (1951-1955). El mejor amigo, Paschal Tywman. El más longevo, el inolvidable Ben Henneke. Twyman Y Bob Donaldson visitaron a Venezuela y pude coordinar sus visitas, incluyendo una cena para Donaldson en el Hotel "Tamanaco" con asistencia de unos 150 ex-alumnos venezolanos de esa querida universidad. Cuando fuí miembro de la Junta de Administración de la universidad, en la década de 1980, tenía un Fondo de Inversión de unos $800 millones, todo proveniente de aportes de ex-alumnos. Nunca ha tenido más de unos 5000 estudiantes y ha mantenido una relación aproximada de 11 estudiantes por profesor.
